2009 DAHON SPEED PRO TT FOLDING BICYCLE

The Speed Pro TT is the bike for the serious roadie who wants it all: a bike that can take on a century as easily as it can pack into a suitcase for travel. The SRAM DualDrive gearing delivers 27 gears for anything from the steepest hills to hammering on the flats. And the BioLogicTM II frame geometry combined with a Syntace VRO system adjustable handlebar system let you dial in the perfect riding position. For 2009 weve cut 500 grams from the total weight by changing to a 7005 aluminum frame with the new V-Clamp hinge. Faster than ever.

This bike was marketed as a folder for the serious roadie. Ok.... now lets really get serious.

It is really more of a commuter bike that has road bike features. I kinda knew that when I bought it. Don't think that you are going to smoke a "Cannondale Carbon Six" with this piece of yellow lightning. But with a pair of decent legs, you can pretty much smoke everything else that isn't a roadie.

I bought this bike about two months ago. I wanted to give myself time to strengthen my legs to give this bike a fair evaluation. Once you get accustomed to the right gears, this is quite a pleasure to ride. It is a solidly built and it feels like it when you ride it. No vibrations to speak of.

I've had no problems with the brakes as was mentioned by the others. I did tighten the brakes before riding ( I'm 133 lbs if it helps you evaluate the brakes better) Adjusted the Derailleur and hub as well. It is worth mentioning that the long screw where the clickbox is attached is very delicate. I received the bike with this screw in 2 pieces. It broke during shipping. The bike stores should really detatch this screw from the bike before shipping. It is a very flimsy screw, probably made of aluminum. Make sure to screw it in carefully with your fingers. Don't use a screw driver. Finger-tighten only. I am sure this screw will break if you drop your bike on that side. Fortunately, SAFETY CYCLE was easy to deal with. Good people. Talk to Song.

It is a fast bike for a folder with 20 inch wheels. I wish it was faster. Fastest I've been on this thing is 30.25 MPH. And that is on a slight downhill. That's Gear 3 on the SRAM dual-drive hub and gear 9 on the cassette. I'm not even sure if top speed can be achieved on gear three of the hub. I think gear 3 on the hub is some sort of over-drive to conserve energy rather than to achieve top speed. Much like what you see in some sedans. My theory is that the small 20 inch wheels do not match well with the SRAM cassette which was probably designed for 700C road bike wheels. In effect, the the gear-to-wheel ratio is whacked. Maybe if they can design a cassette specifically for 20 inch wheels....

The frame is a sturdy 7005 aluminum. Light for a folder that you have to carry around.

I am very happy with this bike. You will be to as long as you know what you are buying.... A FOLDER with road-like characteristics. -- Awesome for what it is
