Maxxis Detonator Bike Training Tire
The Maxxis Detonator, with its dual compound tread pattern, provides a durable training tire with a race pedigree. Softer silica compound on the outer edges of the tire, paired with the grooved slick tread design, allows for great traction in a variety of road conditions. The Detonator is durable enough to provide plenty of winter miles, yet supple and grippy enough to race on in the summer.

I bought a pair of these Maxxis Detonator tires (26x1.5) for my Cannondale mountain bike so I could ride the streets of NYC with ease during the 5 Boro Bike Tour (42 miles). I have only put about 100 miles on these tires so far so I can't speak to their durability just yet, but they have performed very well so far. I was in the market for a tire with very low roll resistance but didn't want to get slicks because of the little traction they provide while cornering. These tires fit the bill, with a slick tread in the center of the tire and slightly more grippy treads on the sides. Exactly what I needed, without breaking the bank -- Maxxis Detonator 26x1.5 Tires
